My Takeaways from Speaking with the Central Suburban League Conference

I recently had the privilege of speaking with a fantastic group of athletic trainers from the Central Suburban League Conference. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with the dedicated professionals who are on the sidelines every day, keeping our athletes safe.

Our discussion focused on “New Considerations in ACL Surgery,” a topic that is constantly evolving in the world of sports medicine. It was a great session where we were able to really dig into the details of how we approach these injuries today versus even just a few years ago.

What We Discussed

During the talk, I broke down the current landscape of ACL reconstruction, focusing on:

  • Current Surgical Techniques: We looked at the latest graft options and why I might choose one specific technique over another depending on the athlete.

  • Understanding Failure: We had a candid discussion about the key factors that can lead to surgical failure and, more importantly, how we can prevent them.

  • Patient Profiling: I highlighted which patients are most at risk for complications and how we can tailor our treatment plans to protect them.

I always enjoy these opportunities to share knowledge and collaborate with athletic trainers. It ensures that from the operating room to the playing field, we are all on the same page regarding patient care.
